Motorcyclist blows three times legal limit, charged with impaired after report from public in Orillia

Orillia OPP charged a motorcyclist with impaired operation after a report from a community member.

Police say they received information yesterday around 7:30 p.m. that a man was trying to get on his motorcycle and showing signs of impairment.

OPP patrolled the area of Peter Street North and Mississaga Street East in Orillia.

"Police were able to locate a male on a motorcycle matching the description provided by the concerned citizen," officers wrote in a release.

"A traffic stop was initiated. Upon speaking with the driver, officers noted numerous signs of the driver being intoxicated by alcohol and entered an impaired driving investigation. The male driver under arrest, the male was taken to a local Detachment where it was determined that he was impaired and registered three times the legal limit."

A 38-year-old East York man was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 plus
  • Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs

He also received a 30-day licence suspension and the motorcycle was impounded for 14 days.

"The Orillia Detachment would like to remind the public that drivers and other road users can significantly contribute to safer roads by avoiding taking unnecessary risks and complying with all traffic laws," said OPP.
