
A traffic complaint called in by a member of the public helped Ontario Provincial Police nab an alleged drunk driver in Orillia.
Around 8:30 Wednesday night, officers responded to a call from a member of the public who thought they saw a person in a vehicle drinking alcohol at a business on Coldwater Road. The citizen followed the vehicle and provided updates to police.
When officers got to the scene, they entered into an impaired operation investigation based on the driver's behaviour.
The motorist was arrested and taken to the Orillia OPP detachment for further testing, assisted by an officer from Rama First Nations Police Service
A 52-year-old Orillia man was charged with impaired driving.
His driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle has been impounded for 14 days.
