Police in Orillia have arrested a suspect who is accused in the assault of a Barrie man who allegedly robbed a convenience store.
OPP say they were alerted about a robbery at a convenience store on Westmount Road around 2:00 a.m. on Nov. 26.
A few hours later, police received a call for assistance to a parking lot on Colborne Street where a man was located suffering from serious injuries as a result of being assaulted with a weapon. As he was being tended to by paramedics, police identified him as being the suspect from the earlier robbery.
A 25-year-old Barrie man was charged with robbery with a weapon and fail to comply with a probation order.
Police have since arrested a 21-year-old Orillia man in connection with the assault. He is facing a total of nine charges including aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon.
