Orillia Man Charged Over Stolen Plates and Pointless Search

Man Allegedly Told Police Where to Find Non-Existent Driver

A wild goose chase and some stolen plates have sent one man up the river.

South Simcoe Police say they came upon a vehicle with a flat tire on the side of the 5th Sideroad at the 4th Line of Innisfil around 11:30 Thursday morning, claiming the plates on the vehicle were stolen.

An arrest was made on scene, while police say the suspect provided information to police that prompted the search for the supposed driver of the vehicle. No driver was found, the search was called off. Further investigation lead police to charge a 24-year-old Orillia man with Mischief, Driving Under Suspension, and a variety of others.
