Forty hazardous ash trees will be removed in Orillia near the Centennial Park boat launch parking. The trees have fallen victim to the Emerald Ash Borer beetle, an invasive insect pest that attacks and kills all species of ash trees.
They’re being removed because their structural integrity has been impacted and they pose a health and safety risk to the public.
As part of Orillia’s response to the Emerald Ash Borer, additional trees will be planted throughout various parks to maintain healthy, diverse tree coverage in the park system.
