Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Loosening restrictions on patient visits

Essential visitors only for now

Orillia’s hospital is tweaking its visitation policy to allow ‘essential’ visitors into the hospital. Many COVID-related precautions remain in place, however.

Essential visitors are those required to meet the needs of the patient and are requested by the patient, according to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH). Those visiting the hospital must meet eligibility requirements. Patients are asked to contact a staff member on their unit about visitors. From there, arrangements can be made to determine when and for how long the visit could occur.

Those going to the hospital for daytime appointments are asked to notify staff while scheduling the appointment if they plan on bringing an essential visitor. The Emergency Department will continue to assess, on a case-by-case basis, whether it is appropriate to have a visitor accompany a patient.
