Orillia students donate mission trip money to charities

$21,000 to be split among local, national, and global charities

Students in the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) are putting their mission trip money to good use.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, mission trips planned for schools across the board were cancelled.

Students at Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School in Orillia were supposed to go to Kenya, but will now redirect money raised to local, national, and global charities.

$10,000 is being split between five local organizations, including the Orillia Youth Centre and Building Hope Orillia.

Another $10,000 is being dispersed between four national charities, such as the Pikangikum Clean Water Project and True North Aid.
