Pair facing manslaughter charge following January overdose death in Alliston

Three suspects arrested in total, all three facing drug charges

Three people have been charged in connection to the opioid overdose that claimed the life of a man in Alliston.

First responders including New Tecumseth Fire and County of Simcoe Paramedics were called to a home on Victoria Street around 9:00 on the night of Thursday, January 30, to find a deceased man. He has since been identified as 45-year-old Trevor Benns of Alliston.

His death kicked off a six-month investigation that ended on Tuesday when police executed a search warrant at a Barrie home where three people were taken into custody.

Manslaughter charges laid against two people, one from Barrie, another from Mississauga. They, along with a third suspect, are also facing charges in connection to drug possession and trafficking.
