A vehicle rollover in Innisfil has led to criminal charges against a mother and father after police say they attempted to mislead investigators and failed to seek medical care for their children.

The crash occurred on July 18, 2025, around 8:00 p.m. near the intersection of 20th Sideroad and Gilford Road.

South Simcoe Police responded after a witness reported a rollover with a woman and two young children—a 10-year-old and a 1-year-old—inside. Upon arrival, officers found a man claiming to be the driver. He presented his licence to police, but further investigation revealed he had not been involved in the crash and had arrived separately in another vehicle.

Police say the man had come to help his wife and children leave the scene in his own vehicle, standing by with the damaged one to create a misleading account. Investigators allege that neither parent sought medical attention for the children before attempting to leave.

A 41-year-old woman from Lefroy, Ontario, has been charged with:

  • Refusing to comply with a police demand
  • Failing to provide necessities of life to a child
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

Her husband, a 39-year-old man from Lefroy, faces one count of public mischief for allegedly attempting to misdirect police.

The two children were later located and transported to hospital for assessment. They were discharged shortly after.
