UPDATE: Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement Asked To Resign From Caucus After More Allegations of ‘Conduct Unbecoming’

Extortion incident not only indiscretion

Nov 8

Parry Sound Muskoka MP Tony Clement will have to find a new place to sit in the House of Commons.

Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer asked him yesterday to resign from the Tory caucus after more allegations of sexual misconduct came to light.

Clement said Tuesday he had shared sexually explicit pictures with a consenting woman; that it was an isolated incident.

Since then, Scheer says more information had come available suggesting it was not isolated — allegations that Clement engaged in similar behaviour in the past.

Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Tony Clement says he exercised poor judgement and went down a wrong path.

“Over the last three weeks, I have shared sexually explicit images and a video of myself to someone who I believed was a consenting female recipient. The recipient was, in fact, an individual or party who targeted me for the purpose of financial extortion. The RCMP are currently investigating the matter to determine the identity of the party responsible for the extortion attempt.”

Clement has resigned from his House of Commons committee assignments and as Shadow Minister for Justice to “focus on my personal life and my family.” He went on to say he will be seeking the help and treatment he needs in his personal life to make sure this kind of thing does not happen again.
