The Ontario Provincial Police are seeking witnesses and dash cam video after a 20-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed on Highway 400 southbound in Barrie.

Police say it happened just south of Dunlop Street around 11:20 Tuesday night.

"Officers got to the scene where two vehicles were located that had been involved in a collision," OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said in a video posted to Twitter on Wednesday.

According to police, the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was an international student from Barrie, who was originally from Bangladesh.

The southbound lanes of the 400 were closed at Dunlop until about 6 a.m. Wednesday for the investigation.
