UPDATE: Barrie police tell Barrie 360 the pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle on Friday night succumbed to his injuries late Saturday night.

Barrie police say a pedestrian is in a trauma centre with serious injuries and a dog is dead after both were struck by a vehicle Friday night.
Officials with the Barrie Police Service told Barrie 360 they responded to the incident on Dunlop Street West, east of Anne Street, just after 9 p.m.
"The victim, a 46-year-old male, was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious injuries," police said. "A dog that was with the male was also struck and did not survive."
Officers added that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
The road was reopened around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact them.
