Peel region’s medical officer of health orders schools in Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon to close for two weeks

Closure order does not affect schools in Simcoe County or the District of Muskoka

Peel Region’s medical officer of health has ordered all schools in Brampton, Mississauga, and Caledon to close in response to rising COVID-19 numbers within.

Effective Tuesday, April 6, all students at schools within these areas will return to remote learning. The closure order will remain in place up to and including April 18. Further decisions to extend the order could be made if required.

Late last week and through the weekend, Peel saw significant increases in case counts and the spread of variants in the community,” reads a statement from Peel Public Health. “This closure will allow students and staff at least two weeks out of school to break any chains of transmission and protect them from exposure.” This closure order also applies to all spring break camps for school-age children within Peel Region.

This order does not apply to any school within Simcoe County or the District of Muskoka.
