Penetanguishene Joins Growing List of Local Municipalities Opting In

Council Votes to Permit Cannabis Retail Stores

Penetanguishene is the latest community to opt in for retail cannabis stores.

Council last night voted to pull the trigger and allow pot shops within town borders, the latest community to do so recently.

Midland also voted to opt in last night, Bradford the night before, and Barrie opted in on Monday night. This doesn’t mean that retail cannabis stores will be built, just that they can.

Municipalities have until January 22nd to opt in or out, while the first 25 successful retail cannabis store permit applicants are expected to be named this Friday.
