South Simcoe Police have charged three people following an assault in Alcona.

Police say they responded to a home in the area of Webster Boulevard and Innisfil Beach Road on Saturday afternoon where they learned a verbal dispute escalated to an assault of two men, aged 53 and 21, living at the residence. Pepper spray was allegedly used in the assault. Two neighbours who came to the aid of the victims were also allegedly assaulted. The suspects fled in a vehicle but were eventually located.

The 21-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment of the effects of the pepper spray.

A 33-year-old Innisfil man was charged with multiple counts of assault and weapons offences. A 32-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman, both of Barrie, were also charged with multiple counts of assault.

The accused were released with future court dates.
