Going out for a drive on a rainy night was the wrong decision for a 36-year-old Barrie man.

Police say just before 11 p.m. on Thursday, Barrie Police responded to a report of a collision on Innisfil Street, just west of Marshall Street.

"Responding officers have determined that the involved motor vehicle, a pickup truck, left the roadway and struck a tree after reportedly losing control on the wet roads. The male driver and a passenger were not injured however, the driver was prohibited from driving," police said in a news release on Friday.

The motorist was charged with driving while prohibited.
