Bâton Rouge Steakhouse & Bar is unrelenting about its fall-off-the-bone ribs and signature steak. Their chef has also been busy seeking out new dishes and crafting new classic menu items. The new menu was sampled during a visit to their restaurant on Bayfield Street in Barrie. Those irresistible pork back ribs - slow-cooked at low heat for 7 and a half hours - were still served up in all their glory, but some new flavour creations were also introduced.
One of the new comforting classic dishes has been stamped Halloumi Gnocchi. It's obviously gnocchi. It's done in a creamy garlic tomato sauce with cherry tomatoes, grilled peppers and zucchinis. It comes garnished with basil and seared halloumi cheese. The new Thai steak salad is another new dish we highly recommend. It's a wonderfully marinated 7 oz. flank steak served on Asian slaw, with marinated pink ginger, roasted sesame seeds & coriander. It's accompanied by a drizzled blend of sweet chili Thai sauce & ginger-lime dressing.
Another instant classic from the new menu is the Tuna Powerbowl. This protein packed powerbowl is a healthy option without sacrifice. It comes with Yellowfin tuna, avocado, roasted edamame, carrots, cucumbers, marinated pink ginger and wild rice enhanced with toasted sesame oil, ginger-lime sauce and topped with this flavorful Gochujang mayonnaise that has just the right kick. Going beyond that, we tried the new Beyond Meat burger. This 100% plant based protein Beyond Meat® patty is served with marinated onions, cherry tomatoes, arugula & watermelon radishes, enhanced with Smoke Show® Aioli Sauce.
