After more than a decade serving Barrie homeowners, builders, and renovators, Discount Granite Plus is stepping into a new era. Now rebranded as Granite Canada, the Huronia Road business is expanding both its product offerings and its customer experience while staying rooted in the local relationships that built its reputation.
For owner and Chief Operations Manager Stephanie Murray, the rebrand isn’t about changing what works. It’s about building on it.
“This business started with a simple goal and grew by meeting clients where they were. We’ve always believed custom spaces should feel special without becoming out of reach. This next chapter is about offering more options, a better customer experience, and continuing to serve our community in a bigger way.”

More Than Granite: Expanding Options for Modern Projects
Since opening in 2012, the company has focused on making custom stone surfaces more accessible, offering countertops and surfaces that balance durability, design, and affordability. With the transition to Granite Canada, the company is expanding beyond its traditional granite and quartz offerings to include marble and porcelain, giving customers more flexibility when planning kitchens, bathrooms, and commercial spaces.
The showroom at 756 Huronia Road has also evolved to better reflect today’s renovation trends, creating a space where customers can see materials firsthand and better visualize how they’ll fit into their projects.
Whether someone is tackling a full custom build, a renovation, or a smaller DIY upgrade, the team works to provide guidance at every stage, from material selection to fabrication and installation.
Local Roots and Industry Leadership
Granite Canada’s growth reflects not only the demand for quality stonework in the region, but also Murray’s leadership within Barrie’s business community. As a woman leading a company in the construction and stone fabrication sector, she represents a growing number of female entrepreneurs making their mark in skilled trades.
Her involvement extends well beyond the business itself. Murray has served as Past President of the Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce and continues to support local initiatives, including her involvement with the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Foundation.
That local involvement is part of the company’s philosophy: investing back into the community that helped it grow.
Keeping Business Local
As Granite Canada moves forward under its new name, the company is also reinforcing its commitment to supporting Barrie’s local economy. By working with area contractors, designers, and homeowners, the business aims to keep renovation and construction spending within the community while continuing to deliver personalized service.
The official launch of Granite Canada on March 18 marked more than just a name change. It signalled the next phase of a local company continuing to grow while staying true to its original purpose: helping clients create spaces they’re proud of.
