An arrest has been made after an inmate at Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene sustained serious injuries in an assault.
OPP say Southern Georgian Bay officers were notified of the incident on the morning of May 13.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, and due to the nature of the injuries, was then air-lifted to a Toronto-area hospital.
According to police, the victim remains in serious but stable condition.
OPP detectives are conducting an investigation under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch.
On Monday, May 17, a 34-year-old Owen Sound man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
The accused is being held in custody, and will appear in court on Wednesday.
