Three teens who ditched a vehicle in Barrie have been charged by Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) after they boxed in a car southbound Highway 400 at King Road.
Around 2 p.m. on Monday, OPP say they received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Highway 400 at Mapleview Drive.
An attempt to stop the car was ignored by the driver, according to police.
The vehicle was then reported by witnesses to be in a nearby parking lot on Mapleview Drive where three people were seen running into a ravine.
Barrie police and their canine unit joined in the search for the males, who according to witnesses, were then spotted getting into another vehicle, which police say turned out be a rideshare car.
Police and the OPP chopper tracked the vehicle southbound on Highway 400 to King Road where it was boxed in and the three suspects were taken into custody.
In the vehicle, police say they found a replica handgun, break and enter tools and disguises, while the car that was abandoned in Barrie was reported stolen.
A 19-year-old from Brampton, and a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old from Toronto, were charged with possession of stolen property, dangerous driving, flight from police, breach of bail conditions among other offences.
