Police investigating downtown stabbing

Victim found Saturday morning

A 30-year-old man has died after a stabbing in downtown Barrie.

Police were called at 7:15 this morning to an area near 16 Dunlop Street East where they found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released pending a post mortem examination.

The incident is being treated as a homicide. Police believe it is an isolated incident.

An area bounded by Clapperton, Dunlop, Owen and Collier Streets has been closed for the investigation.
