OPP investigating after rabbit died from arrow in Everett backyard

OPP are reminding the public to be mindful of hunting season time frames

Nottawasaga OPP are investigating after a rabbit died from an arrow in Everett on Thursday, May 19.

Police say the rabbit was located injured, and attempts were made to save it. Unfortunately, the rabbit did not survive.

According to police, the complainant's backyard area is open and consists of bushes and trees along the row of houses. There are no houses at the rear of the property.

OPP are reminding the public to be mindful of hunting season time frames, and also be mindful of where you are hunting, and if it is legal to do so.

Cottontail hunting season runs from September 15 to March 31.

If you choose to hunt with a bow and arrow please do your research and ensure that you are using approved equipment as well. Some arrows are not legal for hunting.

A number of fines could be imposed depending on the situation. Ranging from around $150 - $300.
