Just before lunchtime Wednesday, Orillia OPP were contacted by a concerned citizen who reported a suspicious person asleep behind the wheel of a pickup truck. The caller found the truck in the driveway of a Highway 11 residence in Oro-Medonte but told police they were unable to wake the driver.

Officers arrived and were able to rouse the motorist. An impaired driving investigation was begun. Police say the driver was arrested and taken to hospital for assessment. During the investigation, police determined not only was the pickup truck stolen, but the driver was also in violation of several probation orders.

A 32-year-old man has been charged with driving while impaired by drugs, possession of stolen goods, and probation violation.
