When asked how he felt about the deaths and injuries caused in the attack, the suspect is heard to say “I feel like I accomplished my mission.”

Over the course of the video, the 25-year-old van attack suspect tells police he’d never had a girlfriend, claiming he was “too nice.” Following a 2015 incel-motivated attack in Oregon, the suspect says he started “thinking and daydreaming” about taking similar action. He admitted to having made contact with a man accused of incel-motivated mass shootings in Oregon in 2015.

On April 23rd of last year, a rented van was used as a weapon, driven along Yonge St. in Toronto, 10 killed, 16 people injured in the attack. In the video, the suspect tells police the only reason he stopped is that his vision was obscured after one of the victims spilled a drink on the van’s windshield.
