Threat made to Bradford school may have been possible “swatting,” say police

No arrest has been made

W.H. Day Elementary School in Bradford was placed in a hold and secure on Thursday morning as South Simcoe Police investigated a threat made against the school.

Turns out, it was a hoax.

Police were notified of the threat shortly after 8 a.m.

During a hold and secure, activities continue inside the building, but all exterior doors are locked and no one is allowed to enter or exit the building.

Police believe the threat was a possible case of “swatting” when anonymous callers report fake threats to prompt a large police response.

The hold and secure was lifted at 11:30 a.m.

Police say the investigation is ongoing as they try to identify the person responsible for the threat.
