Police thanking jet skier who got a paddleboarder in distress safely back to the Balm Beach shore

Offshore winds can quickly blow small human-powered watercraft out beyond shoreline assistance

A quick-thinking jet skier was able to help after a paddleboarder ran into some trouble.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to reports of a woman in distress around 9 p.m. Tuesday after the woman had fallen from her paddleboard about a kilometre from the Balm Beach shore. Help came before police even arrived on scene.

A nearby jet ski operator was able to quickly assist the 30-year-old Brampton woman and get her safely back on land, in the area of Balm Beach.

The OPP is extending a thank you to the jet ski operator for their assistance and remind all human-powered watercraft operators to have all the required equipment aboard; offshore winds can quickly move a small watercraft out beyond shoreline assistance.
