Huronia Road shut down over power line hit-and-run

Extensive damage caused, police seeking truck and driver

Police are on the hunt for a truck they say pulled down some power lines in south Barrie, then took off.

Just before 8 a.m. on Friday, police say a truck was travelling northbound on Huronia Road near Loon Avenue when investigators think it made contact with power lines overhead. The lines were subsequently pulled to the ground, causing extensive damage and lengthy road closure.

Investigators hope to identify the vehicle (pictured above) and driver involved in this incident. Contact Barrie Police Constable Peters at jpeters@barriepolice.ca or (705) 725-7025 ext 2912. Information can be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

A notice from the City of Barrie notes that Huronia Road was expected to remain closed from Mapleview Drive to Loon Avenue until 6 p.m. Friday.
