A 37-year-old Sudbury man ended up being grounded and put in a holding cell at the Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachment in Midland as he was heading to the airport with his buddies for a trip south.

Police say they received a report just before 2 a.m. on Sunday about a limousine with mechanical problems on Highway 400 at Quarry Road in Tay Township and a drunk passenger who figured he would make his way from the limo and thumb a ride instead.

The pedestrian was arrested by police and taken back to the detachment, later released when sober and presented with a ticket under the Liquor Licence and Control Act.
