COVID-19 has brought about the cancellation of two popular Barrie festivals.
The Downtown Barrie Business Association (BIA) has made the decision to cancel both the Promenade Days Festival and the Craft Beer and BBQ Festival for 2020. The Promenade Days festival, usually held in conjunction with the City of Barrie’s Canada Day celebration, was to take place from July 3 – 5, the craft beer festival from July 10 – 12.
A statement from the BIA says, due to the public health risks associated with mass gatherings, the difficult decision was made to cancel both.
While neither will take place this year, the BIA states it will be contributing to the City of Barrie’s virtual Canada Day celebration. It urges the community to continue to visit downtown Barrie and check out the new Dunlop Streetscape once completed on July 15.
