Province Helping to Greenlight Tollendale Village 2.0

600 units, 200 jobs to be created

The province says it is helping get a new retirement community off the ground, and add 600 seniors housing units in the process.

Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing was with Barrie Innisfil MPP Andrea Khanjin at Tollendale Village off Hurst and Little Wednesday morning, to say a zoning order has been issued to allow for the construction of a second Tollendale Village off Big Bay Point in Innisfil.

“The province doesn’t build housing, but we can cut red tape and create conditions that make it easier to build housing in areas that need it,” said Clark. “I am pleased to issue a zoning order to allow the Tollendale project to be built on Big Bay Point Road. This is part of our government’s people-first approach.”

Innisfil Mayor Lynn Dollin expressed gratitude to MPP Khanjin and Minister Clark

The new seven-building facility would include nearly 400 retirement apartments, over 150 long term care beds, and a 52-unit assisted living facility. It is expected this would also create about 200 new jobs for Simcoe County.
