Folks coming into the country at Pearson Airport can now take a free COVID-19 test.
Queen’s Park announced on Wednesday it will be offering free and voluntary self-administered tests at Toronto Pearson International Airport in a pilot program aimed at reducing the spread of COVID-19. International travellers who will be staying in the province a minimum of 14 days can have access to the test and can either register online in advance or proceed to a dedicated space for testing at the airport.
“With over 60,000 international passengers coming into Pearson airport every week, we can’t take any unnecessary risks,” said Premier Ford. “That’s why we’re putting in place this new pilot program to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and respond to new threats like the recent strain of the virus we’re seeing in an alarming number of countries without the same travel restrictions as the U.K. The test will be free for eligible travellers and I encourage everyone to take the test to protect yourselves and your loved ones.”
Those hoping for a COVID-19 test for outbound international travel clearance are not eligible for a publicly-funded test and must seek out private testing before their journey.
