Province reports 175 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday

This follows a slight uptick over 200 the previous day

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Ontario on Sunday fell back below 200.

The province reported 175 new cases of the illness and 11 more deaths.

Health Minister Christine Elliot said there are 47 fewer patients in hospital with COVID-19 on Sunday than there were on Saturday.

The death toll from the virus is at 2,606.

Over 23,000 tests were conducted on Saturday. The number of tests being processed has remained above 20,000 since June 9.

The province said 286 people are in hospital with COVID-19, with 86 in intensive care units and 59 on ventilators.

There is 33,476 confirmed cases of the virus in Ontario. Of those, 28,710 cases have recovered.
