Provincial parks to remain closed through Victoria Day weekend

Ontario government said the closure extension is to prevent the spread of COVID-19

No camping allowed during the May long weekend, unless you put up a tent in the backyard.

The Ontario government on Saturday extended the closure of provincial parks and conservation reserves to May 31. This includes car camping, backcountry camping, roofed accomodations, day use opportunities, access points and all public buildings.

The province said reservations for arrivals up to, and including, any further closure extension date will be automatically cancelled and reservation holders will get a full refund with no penalty. There will also be no penalty to people with reservations who want to change or cancel their 2020 camping reservation.

The Ford government said it understands this extension may impact many people during the month of May but emphasized the health and well-being of Ontarians was the number one priority.
