Pump up the price

Get ready for higher gas prices

Remember, a few weeks ago, filling up the gas tank for 89-cents-a-squirt?

The average this morning in south Barrie was around $1.20.

And by the time we’re done with April it could be up around $1.30 or more.

Two things at play here says Dan McTeague at GasBuddy.com – the federal government’s carbon tax kicks in Saturday adding about a nickel-a-litre to the price or $3 more to fill a 60-litre tank.

A few days later, he says the seasonal increase to deal with summertime demand will tack on another 5-10 cents a litre.
