The City of Barrie’s Queens Park neighbourhood will be under construction starting June 24 to reconstruct and upgrade infrastructure, and relocate the Sophia Creek culvert. This area contains some of the oldest infrastructure in the city.
This project is part of Barrie’s Historic Neighbourhoods Strategy Queens Park area reconstruction. Watermains, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and roads in this neighbourhood need to be updated to improve service levels.
The following road closures will be in effect:
- Ross Street and Sophia Street intersection
Ross Street will be closed between Toronto Street and Mary Street from June 24 until August 5, 2024.
- Sophia Street West, Mary Street, Maple Avenue closures
Sophia Street West between Ross Street and Bayfield Street, Mary Street between Wellington Street West and Ross Street, and Maple Avenue between Wellington Street West and Ross Street, will be closed from June 24 until December 31, 2024.
For both of these closures, residents who live within the affected area will have access, and emergency vehicle access will be maintained. Detours will be in place.
