The story of Ritchie Valens is heading back to the big screen.
They are remaking the 1985 hit film "La Bamba" which tells the story of the rock n roll star from the 50's.

Reports say Mucho Mas Media and Sony Pictures have teamed up to develop the remake. At the same time, Luis Valdez, the writer and director of the original film, will serve as executive producer.
The story of Ritchie Valens is a rollercoaster of emotion, showing the teen's rise to fame in the late 1950s with his smash hots "Donna" and "La Bamba."
He died tragically in a plane crash on February 3, 1959, along with fellow musicians Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper.
That day was later known as "The Day the Music Died."
In a statement per Variety, Luis Valdez says so much of Ritchie's story must be told.
"As new biographical details have come to light, a new cinematic look at his eternally young seventeen years on earth can only add to his undying legend," he says.
The original 1987 film starred Lou Diamond Phillips and was nominated for a Golden Globe that year.
In 2017, the film was added to the National Film Registry of the U.S. Library of Congress.
