A 90's cult classic is getting a reboot and I can't wait.
BET+ is remaking "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" bringing it to the modern age.
The original 1991 film starred Christina Applegate as a 16-year-old High School Student who has to look after herself and her siblings after their elderly Babysitter kicks it.
Her mom is out of the country for the summer, and the kids would rather make do on their own instead of confessing that their Babysitter died while she was away.
The movie did okay at the box office but has become a cult classic, with lines such as "I'm right on top of that Rose."
The logline for the new version reads:
"17-year-old Tanya Crandell can't wait to spend the summer living it up with her friends in Spain before heading to Howard University in the fall. But when her mom (Ms. Pat) decides to head to a much-needed wellness retreat in Thailand, Tanya is forced to stay home with her three siblings instead."
"Following the unexpected death of their elderly babysitter, Tanya gets a job working for the confident and ambitious Rose."
"Juggling work, family, and a complicated romance, Tanya faces the responsibility of adulthood at the cost of her summer of freedom. "
The film stars Simone Joy Jones as Tanya, June Squibb as the Babysitter, and Nicole Richie as Rose.
Tyra Banks serves as Executive producer and directed by Wade Allain-Marcus from a script by Emmy-nominated writer Chuck Hayward (Ted Lasso, WandaVision)
It will open exclusively in theatres on April 12.
