Barrie Police arrested a suspect on Friday in relation to two robberies that took place at local businesses in October.
A 40-year-old man from Barrie was located and arrested after the service's Investigating Services Unit identified a suspect vehicle using traffic cameras and automatic licence plate readers.
The first robbery took place at a store in the area of Mapleview Drive West and Bryne Drive on October 18. The second robbery was at a gas station at Dunlop Street West and Ferndale Drive North.
In the latter incident, police say a male entered teh store that evening and displayed a knife while demanding cash.
Police responded to reports of the incident at 8:30 that evening. The employee was not physically injured, and the suspect was last seen heading north on Ferndale Drive.
Among the man's charges are
- Operation while impaired
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Robbery with a weapon (two counts)
- Disguise with intent
The man was held in custody for a bail hearing.
