Orillia OPP are investigating a single-vehicle collision in Oro-Medonte this morning that sent a Barrie man to a trauma centre, police told Barrie 360.

Around 2:30, police and emergency crews responded to a reported rollover crash at Line 7 North and 15/16 Sideroad.

"Upon arrival, officers learned one person was trapped in the vehicle and one person had left the scene prior to emergency crews arriving," OPP stated in a release.

Police told Barrie 360 that a 31-year-old Barrie man was extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to a Toronto area trauma centre with serious injuries.

OPP added that a canine unit and emergency response team assisted with a search for the second person - who was found close by. A 29-year-old Barrie woman was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to officers.

The intersection was closed while police did their initial investigation, but has since re-opened.
