Rowdy thunderstorms plow through central Ontario

Emergency Preparedness Week: Are you prepared?

Mother Nature's mean streak has been on display.

Thunderstorms ahead of a cold front plowed across central Ontario on Thursday afternoon and evening, bringing strong winds and hail. Tornado warnings were issued in the afternoon for southern Muskoka and the Orillia area, then again later in the evening for the Innisfil, New Tecumseth and northern York, but all have since been dropped.

Hydro One workers have been kept busy with several thousands of customers without power because of the storms.

The cold front won't do much damage to the temperature in terms of daytime highs, which will be in the low to mid 20s on Thursday and Friday, but it will be less humid.
