RVH Identifies Five Areas For ‘South Campus’ In Barrie/Innisfil

Asking for community feedback

After sifting through stacks of data, consulting with stakeholders and considering 50 potential sites Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) has zoned in on five potential areas on which to develop a new state-of-the-art ‘south campus’ in south Simcoe County. And it wants your thoughts.

RVH is more than half-way through its long-range planning exercise which includes determining how to best use space still available within its current Georgian Drive facility and planning for a new south campus to meet evolving health care needs in south Simcoe County. It will be a graduated plan, beginning with building an ambulatory care/outpatient centre within a decade, expanding to a full-service hospital in 20 years.

Among the considerations for choosing the site for the future south campus are:

  • ease of access
  • public transportation
  • planned future development and servicing
  • connection to the community
  • future space to expand

Five zones in south Barrie and Innisfil fit the bill:

  • Zone 1: Highway 400 corridor lands
  • Zone 2: South Barrie / North Stroud lands
  • Zone 3: South Stroud / Yonge corridor lands
  • Zone 4: South Alcona lands
  • Zone 5: 6th line and Yonge St.

RVH is conducting an online survey to gather input from the community. It can be accessed at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RVHsouthcampus.

You can also visit RVHPlanourFuture.ca to access the survey.

The results will help the Site Selection Committee narrow down the zones to a short-list of potential locations.
