Although Ontario is lifting masking mandates in most settings as of June 11, Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), along with hospitals throughout the region, will maintain mandatory masking for the foreseeable future. This mask policy applies to anyone entering the health centre and its offsite locations including staff, physicians, patients, visitors, vendors, contractors and students.

“Protecting our patients and the people who care for them is RVH’s highest priority, so we will continue to err on the side of caution. Masks are a simple and effective way to reduce the transmission of COVID-19. They protect our vulnerable and immunocompromised patients, and they help keep members of TEAM RVH healthy and able to continue to do their important work,” says Dr. Jeff Tyberg, RVH Chief of Staff and Vice President, Academic and Medical Affairs. “RVH will carefully monitor the COVID-19 situation over the summer and will adjust our protocols when appropriate, always putting safety first.”

RVH visitors will continue to be carefully screened at public entrances, provide proof of full vaccination, and wear a health centre-issued mask at all times while in the facility. RVH’s visiting policy remains unchanged
– one visitor, seven days week for one hour, to be booked with care team in advance.

All members of TEAM RVH will continue to follow strict infection prevention and control measures to keep each other and the public safe.

Hospitals in Midland, Collingwood, Orillia, Alliston and Newmarket will also keep mask mandates in place.

Please visit RVH’s website at www.rvh.on.ca for complete details.
