Barrie police credit an added safety feature from preventing a break and enter to a business at a plaza in the area of Little Avenue and Yonge Street.

Around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, the owner of the business was alerted to a possible break and enter and contacted police.

When they arrived, the owner and officers found shattered glass but no entry had taken place.

Police say a secondary interior door prevented the person responsible from gaining entry.

"This added means of security, although slightly damaged, did as it was designed to do and kept criminal activity out of the store and prevented any theft from occurring," police stated in a news release.

Police were able to obtain closed-circuit security footage from the involved stores.

A canvass of other stores within the plaza will take place to determine if any neighbouring businesses may have captured video that can identify a suspect.
