Twelve years later, the search for Sonia Varaschin's killer continues

OPP have issued another plea for help solving a 12-year-old murder case.

It was 12 years ago today (Aug 30) Sonia Varaschin was reported missing after her car was found abandoned behind a business in downtown Orangeville. The body of the 42-year-old was found a few days later (Sep 5) in a wooded area off Beechgrove Sideroad.

A $50,000 reward remains in place for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

More than 1,500 tips have been received by police. The OPP hopes the next tip will be the missing piece to this puzzle.

Anyone with information, no matter how minor, is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
