One man dead, another charged with second degree murder in Bradford

The victim had come to the aid of a young female

A man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of an apparent Good Samaritan in Bradford.

South Simcoe Police were called to the area of Holland Street West and Deer Run Crescent at 4:30 this morning to investigate reports of a man in distress.

He was suffering from an undisclosed injury that proved fatal.

Initial investigation has determined the victim had come to the aid of a young woman involved in a violent altercation with another man. She was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The accused surrendered to police and is being held in custody for a bail hearing.

Police are trying to establish the victim's identity.

He's described as:

  • white
  • 50-60 years of age
  • 6 feet tall, heavy set
  • receding hairline with brown hair and facial stubble
  • wearing red shorts, a white t-shirt and black and white running shoes.

Holland Street is expected to be closed from Toronto Street to Deer Run Crescent for several hours.
