Young boy suffers life-threatening injuries in Newmarket crash

Police asking for witnesses or dashcam footage

Witnesses are being sought following a crash in Newmarket that put a young boy in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The York Regional Police Service says an 8-year-old was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Poppy Lane and Sherman Brock Circle at around 6:15 p.m. Thursday. He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver involved stayed on scene, according to police. No charges have been laid as yet.

Investigators are urging any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, or anyone with dashcam footage from the area, to contact the Major Collision Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext 7704.
