It started as an early-morning disturbance call, it ended with a slew of robbery-related arrests.
Orillia OPP were called to a home in the city’s south end around 5:00 Wednesday morning with reports of a disturbance, later determined to be the armed robbery of a home’s residents. Officers arrived in time to spot a vehicle leaving the scene, believed to have played a part in the robbery. Police say the vehicle then fled the scene, only to be located, empty, a short distance away. Witnesses told police the vehicle’s occupants went into a nearby home.
Officers kept an eye on the home, saying seven suspects were arrested while leaving the residence; five adults and two youth were taken into custody. Charges laid include robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon. Drug possession, police obstruction, and criminal driving charges were also laid. In total, 35 charges laid.
Investigators say two imitation firearms, two knives, some currency, and a quantity of fentanyl were seized during the investigation.
