Seven new cases, five recoveries as Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit updates local case count

No lives lost since yesterday

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is closing out the work week by announcing seven new cases of COVID-19 locally, bringing the local case count to 406.

The regional caseload does include another five people now recovered, 263 people to date, and over 64 percent of all cases.

No new deaths announced by the health unit today, while the region has lost 32 lives to date. There are outbreaks in 3 long-term care facilities and two retirement homes in our area. Dr. Charles Gardner, the region’s medical officer of health, said an outbreak at Whispering Pines in Barrie has come to an end.
