Several motorists lent a hand in Tay Township man’s drunk driving arrest
Fail to remain charge also laid following single vehicle crash
A Tay Township man is facing half a dozen charges after police got a tip from a concerned motorist.
The Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachment got the call before 1 p.m. Thursday of a possible impaired driver heading east along Highway 12 just outside Midland. Before police could track down the suspect vehicle, they say it was involved in a single-vehicle collision near Triple Bay Road. Officers add the motorist drove off before police arrived, but thanks to help from several motorists in the area, the vehicle was tracked down to the Hogg Bay Trestle parking lot.
After speaking with the driver, police say they had enough cause to cuff him and search his vehicle. The OPP says some liquor and pot were seized.
The suspect faces charges including drunk driving, fail to remain, driving under suspension, and more.
