Ontario Provincial Police have charged a 21-year-old Severn Township man in connection with an investigation that began Sept. 30 after officers at the Orillia OPP detachment received information regarding a historical sexual assault and sexual interference.
"Police were advised in June 2024, the accused party advised a group of younger female youths that he was 17 years old, provided alcohol and had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old female," OPP stated in a news release on Thursday. "Since the investigation began, additional victims have come forward. Police believe there could be further victims.
The suspect has been charged with the following offences:
· Assault Cause Bodily Harm- Choke, suffocate or strangle contrary to section 267(c) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
· Sexual Interference section 152 CC x3
· Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 years of age section 271 CC x3
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
